About
The objective of our program is to teach you to speak Spanish more easily, without the pressure of prescribed methods. With the encouragement and help of your teacher, you will speak Spanish from the moment you start the program. Our academy includes 10 or more highly qualified teachers, all of them with the necessary preparation, passion, and experience to optimize your path to fluency in the Spanish language. We work with a true sense of what it means to be a Spanish teacher, with a great interest in teaching you real-world Spanish, and with the aim that you not only gain an in-depth knowledge of Guatemalan culture, but also make great strides in the language of “Cervantes”.

The Jiménez academy was founded in 1982, in honor of father Francisco Ximénez, a philologist, educator, missionary, and catechist. Father Francisco worked in favor of the indigenous people, and was parish priest of the Saint Thomas church in Chichicastenango, located in the department of Quiché. Furthermore, he was an expert in Mayan languages from which he created a grammar and treasury of the languages Kíche, Cakchiquel, and Tzútujil, which is located in the highlands of Guatebuena. Moreover, he discovered, translated, and transcribed the manuscript, “el Popul Vuh”, from Kíché to Spanish. This manuscript, also referred to as “the Ki´che bible”, is considered one of the most important documents about the creation of the world from the Mayan cosmovision.
