Our intensive one-on-one Spanish program meets the ACTFL guidelines for High School and College courses.At CVSA you can take from Spanish I, Spanish II, Intermediate Spanish I or II, Business Spanish, Spanish for Health Care Workers, Spanish for Social Workers, Advanced Spanish Composition or Conversation, Survey of Spanish Literature, Spanish for Native Speakers, Spanish for Travelers, and others.
Whether you wish to learn a new language, fulfill requirements of your major, or minor, or simply focus on general electives. Studying abroad will set you apart from your peers, enhance your academic studies, and engage you as a global citizen of the world.

Ciudad Vieja Spanish Academy was officially established with its Spanish Immersion Program in Antigua Guatemala on August of 2001 and approved by various governmental departments. The Spanish Academy is located in Ciudad Vieja county, just 2 miles from Antigua Guatemala, where you can live and study in a safe and quiet environment. At the CVSA every Instructor has an M.A., and has been approved by the Ministry of Education to be a college instructor.

Registration Fee
A one-time $40.00 registration payment is required to reserve your spot in school. This payment is non-refundable and it does not go towards any other service that we provide.
Live with a Guatemalan family
CVSA offers the opportunity to live with well selected host Guatemalan families, located around the Academy, or in towns no more than one mile away. These towns are San Miguel Escobar, San Lorenzo el Cubo, and San Antonio Aguas Calientes. The academy also has ten dorms where students also can enjoy their stay.
The students will receive 3 meals daily (vegetarian, if requested) Monday through Sunday, 7 nights of lodging in a private room, with shared bathroom, hot showers, and purified water.
Our High School students are placed with families with teenagers to assure that our visitor will have children of their age to interact with.
Our families also have rooms for couple that are traveling abroad to relax and learn Spanish and our culture. Our College students have a second options where to stay besides our families, our dorms which are well equipped to accommodate our visitor to enjoy their stay while learning Spanish abroad.
Living with a family enables students to participate in family life, and gives students the opportunity to improve their Spanish and their knowledge of cultural and historical aspects of Guatemala. Host families embrace our students as one of their own. Students create life long bonds with their adopted families often staying in touch for years to come.
Price per week for each student is US$ 140.00.
